Another PB for Hazel!

The second of the Friday 5 series of races was hosted by Stowmarket Striders. The course was predominantly on road and took place in rather warm conditions. Andy Owen was first back for the Road Runners in 32.22 followed by Stewart Ellis making a welcome return to the racing scene in 33.27. Ashley Hood finished in 34.02 with Simon King in 36.41.

The ladies all gained podium positions in their respective age categories. Hazel Buist continued her outstanding form claiming yet another pb finishing 3rd in the Female Senior category in a time of 34.45. Charlotte King was 1st in the FV35 category in 39.18 with Caroliena Cameron 2nd in the FV45 in 37.15 (photo courtesy of Caroliena Cameron).

Les Morley celebrated his milestone 50th parkrun at Great Notley on Saturday. Axel Voigt got a course pb of 29.21. Nicole Smith also got a course pb of 25.22 and was 1st FV45-49. Phil Jeffries reaped the benefits of his recent training with the club by knocking almost 2 minutes off his time finishing in a pb of 25.55.

At Great Cornard Kathryn Bronson was first lady in an impressive time of 22.23. Heidi Worf was also at Great Cornard for her first parkrun. Undertaking some parkrun tourism, Tom Porter was 5th overall and 1st in the VM35-39 age category at Basildon parkrun. This is the 3rd parkrun in a row where he has claimed age category honours.

Finally Heidi Worf returned to St Albans on Sunday – the venue for her first half marathon a year ago. The tough course and heat did not impact on Worf’s performance with her finishing in a pb of 2.03.59.
