Another busy weekend for racing, we had two HRR in two of the Uks capital cities taking on very different challenges on Sunday and a team of 12 at an event closer to home on Monday.
EDINBURGH HALF MARATHON
Aidan Kelly headed to Scotland to take part in the Edinburgh half marathon on Sunday. Fast & flat, the Half Marathon follows the marathon course which was voted the fastest marathon in the UK by Runners World. Not the best weather for running, wet, cold and with a strong headwind, Aidan completed in 1.51.25.
RIDE LONDON
Alan Fancy took on a completely different challenge on Sunday. His second London classics event, the 100 mile bike ride on closed roads through London and Essex. He Loved the first 90 miles but found the last 10 extremely tough. Alan only has the 2 mile ‘Swim the Serpentine’ event left to complete before collecting his London classics medal.
HATFIELD BROAD OAK 10k
The popular Hatfield Broad Oak 10k race is held on closed country roads and loops through the village of Hatfield Broad Oak in a figure of eight. HRR had 12 runners enjoying the bonus bank holiday running. First home for Halstead was Chris Lloyd. He had an impressive run finishing in 37.57 and was 22nd out of 600 men. Another great run from Rachael Roughan, she crossed the line in 44:02. Sam Wolton finished in 45:39 with Ross Kemble close behind in 46:37. Dan Roughan was on form again completing in 48:38 and achieving a new PB. Karen Pickering was running with a friend and finished in 50:15. Running together were Phil Jeffries  and Treena Carder. Phil crossed the line in 56:29 and Treena in 56:32. Jane Roach completed in 1:01.14, John Warne in 1:06.11 and Roger Frampton in 1:07.29. It was great to see HRR club  chair lady, Charlotte May rising to the challenge after taking a year off from running. She  completed in 1:29.35. Gav Ripton was also there as an official pacer for the event.
Well done all.
