It was another busy weekend for HRR, with members taking on challenging races. From hilly trail runs to half marathons on the roads, the club enjoyed strong performances, personal bests, and first-time finishes.
CAMBRIDGE HALF MARATHON
The Cambridge Half Marathon provided a fast, city-based course with plenty of enthusiastic supporters lining the streets.
Aidan Kelly, currently in training, was first home for Halstead in 1:42:50.
It was a great run from Nina Symingyon Smith in 1:45:31.
Noush Springett and Mandy Humm ran together in 2:04:05.
A fantastic run and result for Gary Wiles, he crossed the line in 2:11:13, with a 3-minute PB.
Her longest run in a while, Mary Veater finished in 2:13:10.
It was Katie De Bourcier’s first ever half marathon, and she was thrilled to finish in 2:58:17.
COLCHESTER HALF MARATHON
The Colchester Half Marathon challenged runners with a mix of city streets and surrounding countryside paths. Supportive crowds helped make it an enjoyable race.
Danielle Cutmore was first home for Halstead with a strong performance in 1:42.33.
Phill Jeffries had a fantastic race, finishing in 1:43:59 with an impressive 9 minute PB.
It was a last-minute entry for Ryan Miller, and it was definitely worth it when he crossed the line in 1:44:32 with a 1 minute PB.
Neil Poulter finished in 1:50:18, with Ross Kemble close behind in 1:50:38.
Crossing the line next in 1:53.20 was Mike Grealy competing in his first race since turning 70.
Having competed in two marathons very recently, Simon Miller took it as a steady run in 1:55:54.
Rich Turner ran well in 2:11:27, as did Paul Gerrard in 2:14:36 and running his first official race in club colours was Mark Nocton in 2:16:18.
Completing her first half marathon in 13 years was Clare Wilson, bringing Halstead home in 2:43:47.
STEYNING STINGER 30k
Gav and Luke Allen competed in the Steyning Stinger 30k on the South Downs on Sunday. An extremely hilly, multi-terrain event, they both had incredible races.
Luke finished 10th overall and 1st senior male in 2:36:36. Gav finished 11th overall and 1st in his age category in 2:37:14.
