The Hare and Tortoise running company held the Blackwater trail events on Saturday. This event ran three different distances along the River Chelmer from Chelmsford to the Blackwater estuary. Conditions were slippery underfoot after the prolonged rain. Bob Langley and Neil Poulter entered the marathon distance which actually ran at about 27.4 miles. Despite the slippery conditions Bob Langley smashed it coming in 1st place in a time of 3:59:33. Neil Poulter came in 3rd place in a time of 4:20:24.
Ross Kemble ran with Treena Carder in the half marathon distance. They completed it in 2:25:00 and Treena finished 10th female and 1st in the F45 category.
Harwich Runners put on the Bromley 10k road race on Sunday. This is a notoriously fast flat course and saw several Halstead Road Runners get a PB. Ivan Filchev was first home for Halstead smashing the 40 minute mark in a time of 0:38:55 which is a PB for him. Will Tuson came in next for Halstead in 0:44:12. Phil Jeffries got a PB finishing in 0:46:00. Lisa Clark was the first female home for Halstead in a time of 0:50:36 placing her 3rd in the F35 category. Charlotte King was close behind in 0:50:41. Sarah Waddington came in with a PB of 0:55:34 again closely followed by Charlii Bower in another PB of 0:55:37. Val Kerrison and Debbie Partridge ran together and completed it in 1:05:54 and 1:05:58 respectively.
