Storm Bert made for some tough running conditions this weekend.
ADNAMS 10K
The popular Adnams 10k race takes place every November in Southwold. It’s a circular route, involving two-and-a-half laps. The harbour can be challenging with its shingle surface, and there is an incline on the way to the finish. This year Storm Bert brought 55mph winds, which made it a battle the whole way round and participants had to run through the flooded harbour three times. Regardless of all that Bec Gilroy had a great run, finishing with a 28 second PB of 51:14.
HADLEIGH 5MILE
This 5 mile race is an undulating course in the beautiful Suffolk countryside, starting and finishing in the Historic market town of Hadleigh. Gary Wiles and Katie De Bourcier were there representing HRR. Storm Bert made the hilly course tougher but thankfully the wind was behind runners as they came into the finish.
Both Gary and Katie met their  goals – Gary wanted to be sub 50 minutes and he finished in 49:53. Katie’s aim was to be near to an hour and she completed the race in 1:01.00.
Great running in tough conditions! Well done all!
