The Halstead Road Runners will, once again, be taking part in their annual Boxing Day Turkey Trot race. Using the same route as 2022, we will be bringing the fancy dress, festive fun into the centre of the town. We invite all members, family and friends to join us for the event. Please note that the event will start and finish from the clubhouse. Fancy dress is optional but strongly encouraged, with prizes for best costume. No timing devices to be worn whilst running. The winner of the run is the person who finishes closest to their predicted finish time. Please give your estimated time to the organiser on the day (Charlotte May). There are cash prizes available for HRR members only. Hot refreshments at the finish.
RACE DETAILS:
Start and finish: HRR clubhouse, Courtaulds Sports Ground, Halstead.
Start times: 10:00am for runners.
9:30am for walkers.
Guest runners and walkers welcome. Children welcome to take part with an adult.
Distance : 5km (3.1 miles). There will be no signage on the day so please memorise route
ROUTE:
Starting at the clubhouse, exit and turn right towards and then past the cemetery. Cross the road carefully and turn left down Mallows Field, continue downhill passing The Griffin.
Turn right at the mini roundabout into Factory Lane West, following road along. Pass Lidl and turn right into Kings Road. Past the park and then left along the main road, cross carefully and turn right after the church, running up and over Chapel Hill. Turn right into Beridge Road and continue along until you reach The Empire. Turn right and past Butler Road car park.
At end of road, turn left and run up the High St continuing uphill until you reach Colne Road (Leisure Centre road). Turn right into Colne Road and follow along as it becomes Fenn Road and down to the mini roundabout. Turn right along Colchester Road and then right again into sports ground to finish.
