A real assortment of running challenges this weekend, undertaken in some seriously wet and challenging conditions.
RUNNING OUT OF TIME CLIMATE CHANGE RELAY
Team Roulson kick started the weekend of running when they headed to London to take part in the final few stages of the relay. The relay Launched from Ben Nevis on June 6th and covered an impressive 2,436 km, journeying through 50 cities and towns before reaching its grand finale at Big Ben on Thursday.
BENTLEY 5 MILE
Huge well done to lan Wingrove who battled monsoon conditions on Friday night at the Bentley 5 mile race. He was 12th out of 389 and finished with a PB of 28:20.
RIDLEY ROUND
This event includes visiting a number of former Ridley’s pubs with time bonuses added if you have a drink in each one. Approximately half marathon in length, the trail race takes in the Essex Way and the Chelmer Valley. HRR had 17 dodging the rain to the finish on Saturday. Tracy English was first to finish for Halstead in 2:44.27. Steve May, Karen Pickering, Keely Jordan, Vikki Suett, Hayley Lamkin and Chris Lloyd ran together finishing in 2:46:47. Michael Yeats enjoyed the challenge crossing the line in 3:03.11. Running together, Ross Kemble, Ian Stokoe, Chloe Randall, Sarah Waddington, Adam Hampton, Mary Veater, Sam Wolton, Paul Hinsley and Perry James finished in 3:51:47.
BLACK SHEEP CHALLENGE
Caroliena Cameron was flying the flag in Yorkshire this weekend, taking on the Black sheep 3 hour challenge, a 3.55 mile multi-terrain loop where runners can complete as few or as many laps as they wish. Caroliena enjoyed the challenge and completed 5 loops.
PARK RUN
One of our juniors, Toby Metson completed his 100th Park run on Saturday with friends. A great achievement at 12 years old.
