Club members were in action across a variety of events this week, from relay racing and road running to a marathon challenge, with strong performances and a personal best among the highlights.
CHASE THE SUN 10k
Simon Miller took on the Chase the Sun 10K, one of a series of evening races designed to make the most of the long summer days. Held on a fast, largely flat course, it’s ideal to chase a quick time. Simon produced a strong run to finish in 52:24.
GLOBAL RUNNING DAY RELAY
Aidan Kelly marked Global Running Day by taking part in the 3 x 5K Relay at the Olympic Park. Running the opening leg for the Met Police Athletics Team, Aidan completed his section in 22:18.
FRIDAY NIGHT FIVE
Laurence Gowers tackled his second five-mile race of the Friday night five series in Sudbury. Finishing in 34:22, Laurence improved by around two minutes on last year’s run and recorded a new five mile PB, taking approximately 40 seconds off his previous PB time.
VALLEY OF THE OWLS MARATHON
Andy Wilmot took on the Valley of the Owls Marathon, based at the Suffolk Running Centre. The scenic course winds through quiet countryside and along some of England’s oldest roads, offering runners a picturesque challenge through the rural landscapes surrounding the village known as the Valley of the Owls. Andy completed the marathon in 6:15.
