Another sunshine filled weekend and HRR were out in force.

SVP
The SVP100 event covers almost the entire length of the well-marked stour valley path trail, and is one of the longest point to point races in East Anglia. HRR had four taking on the 50k, two taking on the 100k and a tail runner. Ross Kemble, Perry James, Sam Wolton and Steve Fellowes ran the 50k together. A tough trail route in warm conditions they ran as a team for most of it and finished well. Steve was first home for Halstead in 7:04.
Enjoying the challenge it was Perry’s first ultra and he completed in 7:08. Loving the ultra challenges Ross finished in 7:29 and Sam Wolton in 7:59. Having ran solo at Spitfire only a few weeks ago, Matt Biggin was back for another challenge this time taking on the SVP 100. He finished in 15:14.
Darren Powell was taking advantage of his free place after volunteering in 2023 and this was his first 100k event. He Knew the route but unfortunately didn’t make the cut off time at his last check point. Always looking at the positives, Darren was still pleased to have completed his longest distance activity at 42.7 miles/ 68k. Finally, Bec Gilroy and her mum Jan Walker were tail running the 50k. Huge well done to Jan who took a tumble 4 miles in and still managed 22miles on a fractured ankle.

Matt Biggins writes:
“The Stour Valley Path is a wonderful 100km route which runs through beautiful scenery from Newmarket to Manningtree. I’ve run this route several times before so I knew what to expect but each time has been a different experience. The 2024 SVP100 held its own surprises, mainly caused by the heat and my over-confident early speed. Both added up to a hard day on the trails which required me to dig very deep to finish the route in 15 hours 14 mins, only 16 minutes before the race cut-off. The support along the way and the company of the other runners is always a huge factor in successfully completing these type of races.”

TOPPESFIELD 10K/ 10 MILE
A few more HRR were making the most of the sunshine on Sunday at Toppesfield trail event, with a choice of a 10k or 10 mile route. Opting for the 10k, Andy Carter finished 6th place overall 53:42, Wendy Carter crossed the line in 1:01.34, Lorraine Garnham in 1:03.04, Treena Carder and Phil Jeffries ran together in 1:04.48 and Jane Roach completed in 1:16.50. Taking on the 10mile keely Jordan finished joint first overall in 1:19.11, Steve May 5th in 1:24.03 and Caroliena Cameron in 1:34.47.

MARATHONS
HRR legend Andy Wilmot completed another 3 marathons last week bringing his total marathon count to 850. An incredible achievement and what makes it more remarkable is that he turned 80 years old last Tuesday. His time for marathon 848 was 6:17, 849 was 6:08 and 850 was 6:25. Absolutely amazing Andy.

Well done HRR!!
