Fantastic team spirit from all. We had lots of first timers taking part so a huge well done to them. Self navigation is daunting when you’ve not done it before in race conditions so a special shout out to Steve May and Sam Wolton who ran their legs with their team mates Jody and Dani to ensure they were confident in reading and following the instructions.
Also thank you to Gav Ripton for stepping in and running two legs back to back.
TEAM A finished in 28th place and TEAM B in 35th out of the 62 teams in their category.
THE BIG HALF
HRR’s Ian Wingrove took part in the Big Half on Sunday. The course starts by Tower Bridge then heads to Canary Wharf before finishing at Cutty Sark in Greenwich. Ian has been training hard and was rewarded with a fantastic new PB of 1:17:08 – coming in position 102 out of 16937 and 14th in his age category. Huge well done Ian.
COLNE ENGAINE 5 and 10 MILE
Organised by HRR’s very own Jane Roach, the Colne a Engaine 5 and 10 mile race was well supported by HRR. The races start on Colne Engaine Village Green and follow the course through gorgeous leafy lanes in a figure of eight – with those undertaking 10 miles running two laps of the course. The end of the route is a downhill dash, finishing with a sprint along Pebmarsh Road and back onto the Green to the sounds of a roaring crowd. Taking part in the 5 mile were 7 HRR. Phil Jeffries was first home for Halstead in 38:12. Running well was Aidan Kelly in 40:05. In his second race in club colours was Josh Roughan finishing in 45:56. Treena Carder crossed the line in 46:46 and Charli Bower had a good run in 51:08. Roger Frampton finished in 1:00.18 with Glynn Stone crossing the line in 1:08.51. HRR also had 6 taking on the 10 mile. Ben Ryder had another superb run, finishing 1st place overall in 1:03.31. Matt Thomas finished 4th man and 5th place overall in 1:06.13. Neil Poulter crossed the line in 1:32.38 and Bec Gilroy in 1:35.21. Lisa Clark finished in 1:39.37 and John Warne in 1:54.28.
Well done all!
