ESSEX LEAGUE CROSS COUNTRY
The third race in the Essex Cross Country league was held at Hilly fields in Colchester. The clue is in the name, and yes it definitely is a ‘hilly’ venue. However, with recent dry weather the course was kinder than it could have been. HRR had three ladies running the 4.5 mile course which was longer than the 4.1 miles declared. There were 148 finishers overall , Noush Springett led the HRR ladies home and finished in 88th place. Wendy Carter recovering from illness was pleased to finish in 99th place and Val Kerrison running her first race at this venue ran well and had a strong finish in 145th place. We also had three men running the 8k men’s race. Matt Thomas had a great run in his first Essex league, finishing in 88th place. It was also Paul Gerrard’s first Cross Country in this league and he finished well in 254th. Anton Nieuwoudt is continuing to dig deep in his first Cross Country season and he completed the race in 256th place.
BRIGHTON 10K
Huge well done to Hayley Lamkin who was representing Essex at the Brighton 10k on Sunday. She finished with a fantastic PB in 38:02.
The Essex women’s team came 4th and the Essex men and women’s team combined came 3rd.
Well done to all!
