Halstead Road Runners had a fantastic weekend of racing in beautiful sunny weather at the Southwold and Chelmsford Half Marathons. From personal bests to determined training efforts, every runner delivered impressive results on two scenic but challenging courses.
SOUTHWOLD HALF MARATHON
The Southwold Half Marathon takes runners on a scenic but challenging route through the Suffolk countryside, with a mix of coastal views, rolling hills, and enthusiastic local support.
James North led the way for HRR with an impressive 1:26:08, finishing 23rd overall and 4th in the V45 category, achieving a new PB. Ross Kemble treated the race as a strong training run, carrying 1.5kg on his back and following up from an 8.5-mile run the day before, finishing in 1:50:41. Ryan Miller celebrated a huge 10-minute PB, crossing the line in 1:52:37. Bec Gilroy continued her streak of improvement, running 1:55:50, a 2-minute 8-second PB after already setting a personal best at the Bentley Half in January. Michael Yeats completed the course in 2:02:02, and Maryann Sycamore finished in 2:17:32. A special mention goes to Alice Ablitt, who crossed the finish line in 3:11:08, marking an incredible journey from Couch to 5K to a half marathon in just one year. A remarkable achievement Alice!
THE CHELMSFORD HALF MARATHON
The Chelmsford Half Marathon races through scenic streets and countryside. It attracts runners of all levels, with an additional 10K and 5K race. Aidan Kelly led the way for Halstead with a time of 1:45. Andrews Livermore finished in 1:58.18. Jenny Smith crossed the line in 2:13.21, followed closely by Elysia Anthony at 2:16.29 and John Warne finished in 2:17.16. In the Chelmsford 10K, Katie De Bourcier completed the race in 1:13.23. A fantastic day of racing with all participants showing their best, whether tackling the half marathons or the 10K.
Well done all!
