Making the most of this glorious weather, from Portugal to Northern Irelandand and then a little closer to home. HRR were busy racing!
LISBURN HALF MARATHON
This event is now one of Northern Ireland’s largest running events. Ian Wingrove was proud to have run the mid week half marathon back in his home town of Lisburn. He crossed the line in 1:17:45 achieving a PB, was 9th position out of 967 and finished 1st in his V40 age category (his first race as an over 40!)
EUROPEAN AQUATHLON CHAMPIONSHIP
Huge congratulations to Hayley Lamkin who represented Team GB in the European age group aquathlon championships in Portugal. She finished 5th in her age group. She swam 1000m in 18:13 and ran 5k in 19:43 finishing with an overall time of 40:11. An incredible achievement.
PLESHEY 5 MILE
Once again part of the Essex Champs series of races, this popular race consists of a 2 lap course on quiet country lanes around the village of Pleshey. HRR had 4 taking it on. Making a welcome return from injury, Ben Ryder was first home for Halstead. Pleased to be back running he finished in 37:11. Adam Hampton is now on plan for a race later in the year so used it as a tempo training run, he crossed the line in 37:47. Not feeling his best and running with a few niggles, Ross Kemble still had a great run. He finished in 40:30. Enjoying the race, Jenny Smith pushed a little but kept it comfortable. Aiming for a slightly quicker pace than she’s been running lately, she crossed the line in 52:01.
WHITHER FROM WETHER
Caroliena Cameron, Keely Jordan and Treena Carder took part in the Whither from wether, a trail race by mid Essex casuals taking place from wethersfield. There was a choice of a 4 or 8 mile route. Keely took on the 8 mile route. Caroliena finished the 8 mile route in 1:21. Treena completed the 4 mile in 44:23.
Great running everyone.
