Autumn has definitely arrived this weekend but the sunshine did make an appearance on Sunday in time for some well known local races taking place.
CHELMSFORD MARATHON AND HALF MARATHON
This popular event takes runners through Central Park and into the Essex countryside in support of Havens Hospices. HRR had 7 runners taking part on Sunday. Jenny Smith has been training hard for the marathon. She felt good up until mile 15 when her knee began to niggle. She Jeffed the rest finishing the marathon in 4:50.42, and was thrilled with a 3 minute 26 second PB. Running marathon number 852, Andy Wilmot finished 1st place in the over 80 age group in 5:36. In the half marathon, Luis Betancourt Canas took a whopping 16 minutes off his previous PB finishing in 1:33.21. A very well deserved PB after training so hard. Lisa Jackson was a last minute sign up on Saturday. She had a great run and finished in 1:54.07. Another solid run for Caroliena Cameron finishing in 1:54.21. John Warne was pleased with his run, making it his fastest half marathon this year. He completed in 2:12.16. Jane Roach had an enjoyable run finishing in 2:18.42.
TIPTREE 10
The popular 10 mile race returned on Sunday and HRR had 9 taking part, including 5 who were pacing for the event. First to finish for Halstead was Rachel Rising. She finished 2nd lady and 15th overall in an incredible time of 1:02.31. Training hard, James North had a brilliant run finishing with a PB of 1:07.09. Tracy English was pacing 1:20 and finished spot on in 1:19.40. Samantha Hillyard had a great run in 1:28.19. Pacing 1:25, Rachel Roughan finished in 1:24.57. Gav Ripton was also there pacing the 1:30 runners. He finished in 1:29.11. Ross Kemble was enjoying the sunshine. He ran with Dan Roughan who was pacing 1:40. Ross finished in 1:39.13 and Dan in 1:39.49. Our final pacer was Sam Wolton pacing 1:45. He finished in 1:43.16. Excellent running and spot on pacing.
GREAT EASTERN HALF
Billed as one of the UK’s flattest Half Marathons, The Great Eastern half took place in Peterborough on Sunday. HRR’s Chris Lloyd was there and had a fantastic run. He was thrilled to take 4 minutes off his previous PB from a few months ago crossing the line in 1:19.10.
