More motivational running from HRR members this weekend, two running for county and one qualifying for the England team.
TATTON PARK HALF MARATHON
Ian Sutcliffe ran the Run Tatton half marathon at Tatton park in Cheshire on Sunday. The course headed through the park with a short section on closed roads once outside of the park. It was mainly on road with some muddy footpaths in sections, with rain for most of the race there were plenty of large puddles to negotiate. The race was a qualifier for the England Athletics masters age group, half marathon team. Ian finished in 1:39:30 and was 3rd in his age category. That time was well within the qualifying time for his age group and with the top 3 qualifying, Ian will be running on the England team. His reason for rejoining HRR was to qualify for the England masters and he has now achieved that. Ian is looking forward to wearing an England vest next year in Manchester. What a great accomplishment! We look forward to hearing how he gets on.
BRIGHTON 10K
HRR were very proud to have two of our ladies representing Essex at the Brighton 10k on Sunday. Extremely windy conditions made for a tough race. Hayley Lamkin has previously represented Essex at cross country as both an under 20 and as a senior. Her last time representing Essex was at the Essex 20 mile race in 2020 just before we went into lockdown. Hayley had a brilliant race finishing in 38:55, 23rd female and 9th in her age group. Also having represented Essex but as a much younger athlete, it was another incredible performance from Vikki Suett post injury. Still working towards full pre injury fitness she finished in 41:22 and was 13th in her age group. Well done ladies.
PEAK DISTRICT SOUTH AND NORTH EVENT
Nathan Roulson was in the Peak District at the weekend taking on another epic trail event. Two days of classic trails covering White Peak and Dark Peak. The total ascent on day one, 1439 metres, and on day two, 1649 metres. We look forward to hearing how Nathan got on.
